arturo javier5 StarMy experience with Chesapeake Bay Reality has been exceptional. They helped me buy my first home in 2006, they managed the property from 2009-2021, and they recently helped me sell my home with an outstanding return on investment. As an active duty military service member that moves every three years, a trustworthy, knowledgeable, and caring realtor/property manager is essential for peace of mind.
Art represents these qualities in spades. As a realtor, he is passionate and proactive in executing purchases and sales. His intimate knowledge of the region makes him highly skilled at navigating through the nuances of everything from the market to housing codes. As a property manager, he is incredibly resourceful at problem solving. Most notably, he exhibits a great deal of compassion for owners and tenants alike. My only regret in selling my home is that I will no longer enjoy the services provided by Art and Chesapeake Bay Realty.Thursday 12th August 2021
Samantha Zbur1 StarI was recently approved for a rental property managed by Chesapeake Bay Realty. I was told that I would have 24 hours to pay my security deposit (equal to one month of rent), but the property management agent did not have the lease prepared for me to review and sign. When I requested to review and sign the release prior to dropping off the security deposit, I was told that I could receive a blank lease and that one would be prepared later with my information. I was also told that my security deposit would not be refundable if I was not in agreement with the terms of the lease, even though I had not yet signed it! It wasn’t until I said that I felt uncomfortable handing over nearly $2000 without knowing what I was getting into that the agent offered to send me the completed lease the next day so I could review it prior to dropping off the security deposit at the office. However, the next day, she told me that she was not feeling well and would likely not get around to completing the lease until the following day. I can only assume that I would have still been expected to drop off my security deposit that day. Needless to say, it seemed as though I was getting the run around.
When I said that I found it unusual to be asked to pay the deposit prior to viewing and signing the lease, I was asked if I had worked with property management companies before. Meanwhile, I have been renting for the past 10 years and have NEVER encountered this. Based on other reviews, it sounds like it is common practice for this company to demand security deposits and then feel entitled to keeping them even if the applicant does not sign a lease. The agent told me that they often ask people to pay the security deposit when submitting their applications. Who in their right mind would be willing to hand over such a significant amount of money if they don’t even know if they will be approved for the property?
Because I own 2 dogs, I was also asked to provide the pet deposit ($1000 for each pet) up front. I am glad that I asked to pay it at a later date prior to move in, because I imagine that they would have felt entitled to keep this deposit as well.
Based on the agent’s conduct and the abundance of negative reviews here, I did not feel comfortable moving forward with my application and I held onto my money.Friday 12th June 2020
Destini Dozier1 StarWorst place to get involved in. I did everything that was required by me for the Realtor Judy. (Money payments & getting things turned on when asked) Just for my family to be left HOMELESS when my previous apartment lease was up. I HAD to stay on top of Judy via calls and meeting up just for her to NEVER go and check on the property my family and I was moving in to until the LAST 2 WEEKS UNTIL WE NEEDED TO MOVE IN!! The townhouse was INFESTED WITH ROACHES!!! She tired to play it off like she had no knowledge of it. They were soo bad it required SEVERAL treatments that would take longer then the time frame we had left. The home was also not up to part with the cleanliness far as the BATHROOMS, KITCHEN, BLINDS BROKEN, and etc. So I got out the lease and had to place my family in a hotel for 2WEEKS with my OWN MONEY because of the lack of concern of the properties this company is putting out on the market!Wednesday 15th September 2021
Sam Roosa5 StarRented town home through Ashley and Nikki, one of the best rental experiences I’ve had. Quick and easy application and move in, repairs addressed quickly and move out process due to deployment just as easy. I had no problems with deposit being returned, Ashley even went above and beyond to personally pay deposit into my account due to being overseas. I definitely recommend them. They make sure the home owners house is being taken care of properly and that the tenant is also happy. Perfect combination for both home owner and renter. Will defiantly try use them again when I return.Sunday 19th May 2019
Carmen Bellard4 StarI have been renting from Chesapeake Bay Realty for almost 2 years. I had some trouble getting qualified when I first moved to VA but they worked with me and I was able to rent a place! After my lease was up I needed a bigger place for me and my fur babies so again, Art worked with me to get into something bigger. He allowed me to transfer my deposit to tnt new place and was flexible on my move dates.
The staff at Chesapeake Bay Realty has been very accommodating and helpful with both of my moves. I highly recommend them for your rental needs!Wednesday 9th October 2019
