I have a complaint that is being ignored by my local association, HRRA. (Hampton Roads Association of Realtors).I became a member August, 8/3/2021. I paid my total dues at that time, only to find out December 20, 2021..they never made an an active member. Upon my NAR log on, I found that I was “inactive and to contact my local association.” That was what was written. Thru much phone conversation, a member specialist with HRRA told me NAR did this, and to contact them, citing they were not sure why NAR would inactivate me. I received a written transcript of my telephone conversation from NAR and I have a screenshot of my “inactive status” from NAR’s website, and they have written that they did not do this..my local board did. When I called my local board (HRRA) back and asked to speak with management, I was given grief..told things like, let’s check the numbers you’ve paid, you had not done ethics training, and you had not completed the orientation. When the truth is, I paid all monies due “on time” and “at the time” they were due, in August 2021, within days of becoming a member. I left VPAR in August when I joined my new firm, and the same day..joined HRRA, after being told I need to be affiliated with my new firm’s broker. My ethics training and orientation were both accepted by a HRRA new member specialist at the time, Connie, as I was told I did not have to complete either again..coming directly over from VPAR as long as I submitted a letter of good standing, for which I did promptly and same day, August 3, 2021. The problem is that I received no service/no membership/no activation/no recognition as a member, therefore, I would like a refund. There was no affiliation with this organization, HRRA, during the months for which I paid my dues. The way I’ve been spoken to by HRRA staff is unreal. Very disrespectful. Which I believe, is what has prompted the backlash I have received. I had written a complaint against Connie, the new member services coordinator, August 3, 2021, after disconnecting the phone on me, becoming agitated, and telling me she had other members to call, after simply asking her to walk me thru the numbers for which I was supposed to pay coming onboard with HRRA. I’d already paid a large sum to VPAR, and coming over to HRRA. I have now terminated affiliation with these people and I am only asking for accountability and a refund of my dues paid August 3 2021-December 20, 2021. If my dues were never paid, I understand I’m not a member. If my trainings and ethics were never completed, I can understand that, too. But none of this was the case. I did my part. I received nothing but disrespect, and the run around when I tried to get someone to speak to me, reasonably. I cannot really put into words the condescending, undervalued conversations I’ve had with the staff at HRRA. Arlene finally asked me, after hearing all of this, what I would like to see happen, and I responded by telling her I wanted a refund and no affiliation moving forward. This situation is similar to paying for car insurance, only I was never insured during that portion of my time with them. I never had an issue with VPAR. They forwarded the letter of good standing and so did I. Lastly. NAR did confirm I was not active in their system, by way of a message as soon as I logged in, and the live chat, for which they sent me the transcript. At some point during this transcript on the day of my findings (December 20, 2021), NAR stated in the same transcript, I was inactive and then someone over at HRRA had just left made me active..that day. But also, not at my request. Because my request moving forward with them is that I have no dealings or affiliations. I just want someone to know what has happened and I would like the dues for which I never became a member in their system from August until December returned to me.

One of the best professional organizations in Hampton Roads that I ever been part of. The staff and the people who support and attend are friendly and great. It would focus on serving the Residential Real Estate Marekt; this is the place you should join.
